Today I ran the Depot Days 5k in my home town.I'm excited about this one because I really feel like I can reach my goal of 24 min.'s The day started with lite rain but stopped about 15 minutes before the race started.I ran about a half mile warm up before the race.

The race started and my first mile was 7:45, just where I thought I needed to be to reach my goal. The next mile I was still feeling good but it was only a 8:05.Got to pick up the pace!!

The last mile I started to day dream (why do I do that???)The last few hundred yards of the race Eric Schotz (a very talented runner)who had finished in 19:07 was coming back to encourage those of us who are slower. He ran up beside me and said you are doing good, lets pass that guy up there.Dont know why I wasnt already running faster but I took off and did pass the guy and crossed the finish line at a 24:39. Thanks Eric!!!

It feels so good to set a goal and reach it.I shaved 2:08 off of my last 5k.I had lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks and it made a BIG difference in my speed and energy.
